A privately held owner of broadcast television stations in markets ranging from Charlottesville, Va.; to Wichita has named a past president of the Virginia Association of Broadcasters to serve as its Director of Digital Revenue — a newly created position.

He teamed with Barry Dickstein as the co-owner of a group of radio stations before evolving the operation in 1994 to StoneGate Capital Group. He was also a successful media brokerage advisor, and later in life an entrepreneur and Justice of the Peace. Now, family and friends are gathering to remember Joel Hartstone.

Flag Family Media will be able to close on its $600,000 purchase of a News/Talk radio station serving Fargo, N. Dakota. A listener had objected to the deal based on a Facebook post by a host at the buyer's current radio stations, on the grounds that what he said demonstrated why it would be “dangerous” for the sale to happen.

The Congressional Budget Office has released its cost estimate for the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act of 2025. And, despite automaker claims that adding electromagnetic shielding to preserve AM reception would come at a high cost, the CBO has disagreed — for a  third time.
