Introducing MB Docket No. 25-322, which carries the lengthy name "Empowering Local Broadcast TV Stations to Meet Their Public Interest Obligations: Exploring Market Dynamics Between National Programmers and Their Affiliates." Two FM radio stations, an AM radio station and its accompanying FM translator are poised to become the properties of a new owner, as an asset purchase purchase dated October 21 has been submitted to the fully reopened FCC for its regulatory approval.

In this document, the Federal Communications Commission (Commission) seeks comment on proposed rule changes that would support and accelerate the nation's ongoing market-based broadcast television transition to ATSC 3.0 (or Next Gen TV). The document tentatively concludes that the Commission should eliminate the simulcasting requirement for stations that transition to 3.0, while continuing to permit simulcasting on a voluntary, simplified basis. It also seeks comment on a range of closely related issues and other matters touching on the Next Gen TV transition.

On September 9, the founder of a Class C FM in Alexandria, La., and a trio of digital Class A television stations serving three Bayou Country locales passed away at the age of 87. With the FCC's blessing, an estate created by Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP will become the new interim licensee of the properties.
