Two prominent Democratic U.S. Senators from New England on Monday will join in hosting a "spotlight forum" on what they call "the Trump Administration’s unprecedented efforts to use the FCC and government authority to chill First Amendment-protected speech and independent, fact-based news reporting."

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting has given a grant of up to $57.9 million over five years to Public Media Infrastructure (PMI), a new independent nonprofit entity formed by a coalition of leading public radio organizations, to sustain public radio distribution through 2030.

In a statement, Sinclair said, "Free speech provides broadcasters with the right to exercise judgment as to the content on their local stations. While we understand that not everyone will agree with our decisions about programming, it is simply inconsistent to champion free speech while demanding that broadcasters air specific content."

In Central Florida, the Holler family has become known for its auto dealerships. Roger Holler is also known for MARC Radio, which operates six radio brands in Gainesville-Ocala and three stations between Titusville and Melbourne. Now, MARC is adding a group of stations serving listeners from Stuart to Sebastian.

For two years, Erie, Pa.-headquartered Lilly Broadcasting has operated a low-power TV station in the territory of Guam that's home to ABC and FOX programming. Pending FCC approval, Lilly will become the owner of the facilities bringing this programming to the South Pacific.

Audio is having a moment, with broadcast radio, podcasting and streaming converging around personality-led shows, social video and on-demand listening. NAB Show New York, Oct. 22-23 at the Javits Center, puts those shifts on stage and on the floor, starting with a dedicated forum for radio and podcast leaders.
